🇨🇦 If you live in Alberta I urge you to get out and vote down the seperation question on the ballot. Don't buy the protest vote bullshit that the seperation side is pushing. This is a real and serious exercise in expressing your will to stay in Canada. Vote early and familiarize yourself with all 10 questions.

If you're a Canadian, or a virtual Canadian, or have a Canadian adjacent spirit and are on the #forkiverse we have opened up our sign ups for 24 hrs at https://thecanadian.social if you want to move before shutdown. #TheForkiverse

🍁A lot of economists that had expected a sharp economic downturn for Canada are saying that increased domestic demand has at least blunted the effects of US tarrifs.

That's you and I making a choice to support our fellow Canadians by buying Canadian goods and avoiding US goods. We need to keep that momentum going and become radically buy local consumers. #ElbowsUp #Canada

As a footnote to my last post I don't consider BlueSky part of the fediverse because, well they don't actually federate with anyone..

The moniker of decentralized is also fairly weak as it takes heroic effort to actually break free of the mothership. Some have but they're outliers at best.

I will get pushback on this, but search your feelings, you know it to be true.

The fediverse is the last safe information harbour on the Internet.

Twitter, Facebook, Tick/Tock, etc all promote enragement for engagement which is the bedrock of today's authoritarianism.

If you're on BlueSky you've already seen how the new boss is same as the old boss when it comes to centralized control and censorship. There's also questions around where the moneys coming from. They may already be soft captured.

Today more than ever the world needs decentralized social media.

🇨🇦 If you're a US observer or a Canadian that's always wondered about our system this is a great little video and infographic about the history of political parties in Canada. It's also a tiny encapsulation of the history of Canadian politics. I highly recommend a watch. #ElbowsUp #CandianPoli #CanadianElection

🇨🇦 "I am certainly not suggesting that Trump has a plan for invading Canada, or even (as he claims) a step-by-step strategy for squeezing Canada economically until it gives up and surrenders its sovereignty. Neither do I think that he will necessarily succeed in his ambition. But I am saying that he poses an existential threat to the Canadian confederation."

BETRAYAL.

The United States has just demonstrated that there is no ally they will not betray. No agreement they will not unilaterally break. No act of friendship they will honour.

A vast majority of you, the American public enabled tonight's tragedy. You were told point blank by your president that this was his plan and you voted for it anyway.

I'm not even angry, I'm just profoundly sad. It is a new and terrible era and now it will directly impact us all.
