With Apple now focussed on the smart home, perhaps they could finally repurpose the 3rd tab from the Home app that has been nothing but ads for years?

It seems to me that ethics / morals are often a privilege (eg of the well-off). Now the economy isn’t as rose-y, the rubber is hitting the road and people’s priority stacks have changed.

I’ve seen it in Kooyong (swinging back towards the Libs in the last election) and am seeing it in the current drift (and justification) of the Apple pundit-sphere back to Twitter &/or justifying the bad parts of AI etc.

When the going gets tough, humans get more selfish. Not a new phenomenon… 🤷‍♂️

I'm so over this dark pattern from Apple. 🤬

They genuinely used to be a better company than this. 😢

We used to joke about how MS owned your PC and you updated when MS felt like it.

How far we’ve fallen. 😩

Also I’m somewhat sad to report I’m selling my iPhone Air. It’s just too big. I’ve been back on my 13 mini for 24 hrs and it just feels so right. 🥰

Dear John (Ternus),
If Apple can build an iPhone Air, they can build a new iPhone mini.📱Please make it happen. One handed phone users everywhere will thank you. 🙏

As Tim Cook finishes up as Apple's CEO, I've been pondering the future of Apple Vision Pro. Cook was a known advocate for the platform (including it shipping when it did), and I couldn't help but feel echos of John Scully's pet project (the Newton) in this the “era of spatial computing" as Apple proclaimed in June 2024. I took some time to write it up earlier this week.

I see Apple are starting to seed the media before the 9th to soften the negative press when iPhone 18 launches and costs more…

Every year without fail, my HomePods and Siri get noticeably worse the closer we get to OS releases… and it’s that time of year. This morning, they just wouldn’t play music. 🎶 The backslide in service delivery quality as Apple has grown is so frustrating.

💯 … this drives me nuts that they seemingly prioritise curved corners for the kb over the massively improved functionality of Inverted-T arrow keys …

I’m being seriously gaslit by the iOS 27 (Public Beta) autocorrect. 😩 Seems to be worse since I turned on Siri AI, but that could be coincidence.

My childhood memory from the film was that they faked the Quadra 700 running “Unix”…. But TIL…

I must say, if you are running older hardware (in my case an iPhone 13 Pro Max) the iOS 27 dev beta is a delightful update. Like a really solid dot point update. Given I am spared from all the Siri AI, essentially it’s all just bug fixtures and refinements. 🎉

@santi Are you running Linux on your M1 Air full time still? How’s a) the battery performance and b) the driver support (eg Wi-Fi etc)?

LOL Gotta love the “Apple-speak” (aka justification / non-apology / non-acknowledgement) humble pie for all the UI features they completely screwed up in macOS 26 that they are thankfully walking back for macOS 27.

First time I’ve hit WWDC having kept my Macs on previous year’s OS in a long time… but macOS 26 was a dumpster fire.

@rmondello Ah yes, Passwords. AirPrint in particular. Printing is the last password my iPad users have to use! 😩 🖨️

I have 1000+ users who are all in on Passkeys (+ ESSO and PSSO).

Who owns IPP Printing on iOS at Apple that I can hassle about getting modern auth support on there? :)

I’m thinking the best option (without changing the IPPS spec!) would be to add support for an iOS AirPrint MDM payload to allow me to add a cert for mTLS during IPPS sessions (which could then derive identity).

Without SplitView; SlideOver & the pointer “snap/jump to targets” behaviour from iOS 18 making a return I can’t imagine I’ll ever buy another iPad for my uses.

Genuinely I find iPad OS 26 such a regression. Try as I might to adapt, I just can’t. And I am trying! I have 2x M1 iPad Pros in Magic KB — one on 18.7.8 and the other on 26.5.

iPad OS26 is slower generally, less functional, and makes every one of my iPad use cases worse.

Scary watch. When will cooler heads prevail in world leadership? 😩

What if the iPhone Fold / “Ultra” could dock with a Studio Display to operate iPad OS? 🤔

Zak Brown couldn’t have looked happier that Oscar was off when interviewed by Brundle on the grid.

This is a long shot… but does anyone know what login URL Minecraft on iPad uses? I’m trying to get it to broker to Enterprise SSO extension (via authenticator) but it only offers password auth (and won’t use a passkey)…. #passwordless #minecraft
