Karen Seto Honored With Geography’s Top Prize

A pioneer of satellite analysis of urbanization and global environmental change, Seto is the first U.S. woman to win the Vautrin Lud Prize. She champions the field of geography as more important than ever.

"Geography is about understanding where things are and why they occur where they do,” she said. “There are many unsolved questions that are geographic — anything that has a ‘where’ in the question!”
