- diversity and INCLUSION INCLUDING RETAINING PEOPLE because hiring is worthless if everyone rage quits because your org is a dumpster fire

- multi-year funding for maintenance

- if someone maintains critical code, and the community describes them as a lovely person they would trust to guard their drink, they get a living wage for years to do whatever. Seriously this would work. It would be a better use of money than the current secret handshake and code word system of grant writing.
