I lived in San Francisco Gavin Newsom's entire term as mayor, so I saw the guy pretty closely. He's only gotten worse since then. He's the kind of guy you don't want to get too close too or you'll die with his bootprints on your shoulders. But the Democrats were clearly grooming him for President even then.
Also, Gavin and DJT Jr being married* to the same woman seems like some kind of revelation about someone.
*Okay, "domestic partnership".

@urlyman Yes. He switched parties about a decade after he married Nancy, and won the governorship of California a few years after.

@urlyman Well, Trump wouldn't exist without Regan. And maybe Regan would have existed without Nixon. But that meme where every chart about the state of the US take a bad turn during Regan is right on. (At the moment thinking about his tax cuts on the rich and how that made now possible.)
If we can get our heads above fascism again, we'll see. Nothing Trump has done has intended to last more than an hour.
