Oct 16, 2026, 8:20 AMGrrr. Android's Bluetooth filesharing deliberately restricts to specific MIME types.
So I can't Bluetooth share an ePub (which is just a ZIP file) without first renaming it to .zip.
I can't install QuickShare on the receiving Android device (generic eInk tablet with no Google Play).
There are no FOSS QuickShare apps that I can find.
Is the only solution installing yet-another sharing app on all my devices?
@Edent I use magic wormhole, which has implementations on a variety of OSes.
There's an Android app which you can use if you can get F-Droid or install an APK: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.pavelsof.wormhole/
@Edent Not sure if that is the _only_ solution, but I ran into similar, and where I ended up was using Warpinator from the Linux Mint team on my desktops, and the unofficial ports to Android and Windows by slowscript on those devices and it works seamlessly across them all.
@Edent Not a direct help. I am temporary on an Apple phone, and USB and BT does not work. I found that the phone can connect to a SMB share in my LAN, so there is now a TempShare on a Windows machine.
@Edent QuickShare is proprietary, and reimplementations get DMCA'd.
So it'll have to be something else like LocalSend, unfortunately.
@Edent I use an SMB share as well on a kind of NAS, but also when it's needed Google Drive and One Space.
And yes it's a considerable pain.
@Edent grr'ing at alphabets decision to wall off countless functionality within the OS is my schtick, give it back!
