The reason I put “judges” in quotes when talking about IJs is that IJs have no independence. They can be fired whenever. I’m not saying regular, actual judges are TRULY impartial, but they can at least ACT like it because they’re not supposed to get fired based on the decisions they’ve made. You may have heard about the pitfalls of elected judges and how that results in higher conviction rates? It is so WEIRD that they’re targeting such a sympathetic group (abused kids) for fast-tracked deportation until you think about “great replacement” white supremacy. If these kids aren’t deported now, they’ll get their green cards. There are lies about widespread SIJ abuse but if that were real, they could revoke those applications easily. They don’t because they don’t have a reason - it would be “arbitrary and capricious.” So the best option is to deport the Black & Brown kids NOW 8/?
