I heard the story of the first salmon return after the feds built the grand coulee dam and I just want to cry and cry. They smashed their bodies against the dam until they died. All they wanted was to go home. There is still no fish passage. And even if there were, that’s insufficient remedy for salmon due to warmed waters and other issues, and lamprey can’t use the ladders at all. Fuck settler colonialism.

Yes I posted this just so I could use the EATBikes hashtag. If your closest airport is Pangborn Memorial, join me. Or just join for funsies / Apple capital loop trail posting
A squirrel ran across my path yesterday and I slowed down to let it pass but it panicked and stopped so *I* panicked and stopped… and then fell over. The squirrel escaped unharmed! I was a bit bloodied (and forgot I had bandages in my bike bag so just rode home bleeding lol). Bike is fine :) #bikeTooter #eatBikes #cycling
Hi! I'd love to connect with others writing non-romance-focused, long-form original sapphic fiction in English or Spanish. I'm working on editing, and it would be lovely to have folks to check in with. I don't have a writing group & work/life have been busy, so it's been hard to keep myself accountable! I'm in Pacific time (US), writing in English, and hoping to translate the final version into Spanish. Not sure what the genre is - kinda like The Monkey Wrench Gang. #writing #amWriting #askFedi

He actually started crying seconds after I took this, possibly because he thought I was abandoning him in the lake? But I was just trying to pull the kayak out without wetting his little paws 🥺
He would be unstoppable if he had thumbs #dogsOfMastodon
It is so WEIRD that they’re targeting such a sympathetic group (abused kids) for fast-tracked deportation until you think about “great replacement” white supremacy. If these kids aren’t deported now, they’ll get their green cards. There are lies about widespread SIJ abuse but if that were real, they could revoke those applications easily. They don’t because they don’t have a reason - it would be “arbitrary and capricious.” So the best option is to deport the Black & Brown kids NOW 8/?
The reason I put “judges” in quotes when talking about IJs is that IJs have no independence. They can be fired whenever. I’m not saying regular, actual judges are TRULY impartial, but they can at least ACT like it because they’re not supposed to get fired based on the decisions they’ve made. You may have heard about the pitfalls of elected judges and how that results in higher conviction rates? It’s like that, but if election season was all the time. https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/how-judicial-elections-impact-criminal-cases 7/?
Let me be SOOOOO clear that I don’t think that adults should be deported either. I’m focusing on kids here because the US gov’t is currently trying to deport SO MANY KIDS. They have hired a ton more ICE agents and a ton more immigration “judges” (IJs) to try and move these cases so fast that they don’t get to get the green card they’re entitled to!!!! Because once you get SIJ, you don’t get a green card right away. You have to wait until the gov’t decides it has enough “visa numbers.” 4/?
