@grishka My guess is that people want a comprehendible social media — a social media where they have some sense of why they're being shown any given post — and "I followed the person who posted it" is the easiest explanation to comprehend. They'd probably be as comfortable with algorithmic options that link back to their own decision-making in some way, but very few algorithms are transparent enough to erase the unease of not knowing why you're being shown a topic.
