    My finished pelisse!

It's amazing to wear. The heavy trim moves and ripples the skirt in ways I didn't expect. It is very intimidating as well, thanks to the military vibes.

The center front facings were surprisingly difficult. I had to snip the piping, then pull the fluff out out of each bit piping enough so it would lay flat. That is 136 piping ends to manage. I then had to make sure the facing had enough tension on piping to keep it flat.

The decoration removed over an inch of length from the skirt.

Qibbles - I screwed up the lining hem so I wasn't able to get the hem details done. I decided against the center front piping as I wanted to show off the that crisp front edge. And of course the color match.

I don't want to see another piece of piping for a looooong time.

A blue coat dress covered in military style trim. The dress is high waisted, with an a-line skirt.

The dress is blue wool, trimmed with piped silk satin. It has a double collar, with the under side one so wide it touches the shoulders. The collar is bound in satin and pipped, because doing one or the other isn't enough.

There are 34 1 inch horizontal bands, from hem to neck, each side pipped. The outside edge of the bands is trimmed in a super fat piping, a 1 inch tube of stuffed silk satin. The horizontal bands twist over and under the satin tube. The trim spans shoulder to shoulder, gets narrow at the waist, only to flair again at the hem, like 2 triangles touching at the top.

The sleeves are long, but don't hit the knuckles as was the fashion of the time. Over the long sleeve is a fancy puff sleeve. The sleeve is slashed so you can see the sleeve underneath, with each edge bound in satin piping. The puff sleeve fabric is caught up in a large (also piped) bow, with the knot being 3 rows of piping. The shiny satin against the dull wool creates textural contrast.

My hair is done up in ringlets at the side of my face, parted in the middle. The rest of my hair is in a bun at the middle back of my head.
The orginal coat dress I copied.

It is largely the same, but with a few differences. Mostly, it is a faded purple color and of a dull silk trimmed with silk satin.
