I only have one active Signal contact.
And a 1GB mobile contract that has been sufficient for everything until I installed Signal.

In the case of Signal though, they at least have kind of activist roots, and their model is not built on surveillance advertising. Despite my own problem right now, I'd still consider it the best mainstream alternative for all the normal people out there.

@galaxis I think they used to... But I'm never convinced these days.
My family and friends uses a self-hosted matrix server for family conversation, most of my extended family has access to it..
