chris martenschrisamaphone@hci.socialSep 18, 2026, 1:44 AM@cdrichards it took me awhile to realize that impulsivity isn't just "having a lot of impulses" to do risky things, but actually doing them, and my sometimes-extreme risk aversion usually counteracts the former to put me in the category of "taking years to make a single decision"

@chrisamaphone this, and variations on the theme. It did not help my confusion that I was raised to treat “thinking [about] X” and “doing X” as morally equivalent, for various X.
