Um, did I miss the memo?
What happened to digital voice recorders?
Like, Sony’s whole line of them is *gone*?!
I’ve been using a trusty Sony ICD-UX560 model for 8 years for interviews and it’s always been FANTASTIC.
Was thinking of getting a newer model but… Sony’s stopped MAKING ‘em?
What happened?🤷♂️
@brianstorms The Voice Memos app pre-installed on iPhones?
I considered that, sure. Could be that, plus RAM shortage due to fossil fuel, er, data centers.
But the iPhone’s mic is lousy imho, and audio quality is not great. Plus, hard to record phone calls and do phone calls on the iPhone at same time (or am I wrong?). Me, I don’t like surrendering all functionality to a single company. I like having separate devices for separate functions, with no one company controlling then limiting then ruining or even removing that functionality.
@brianstorms Well there's always Zoom - I used to use one of these to record the podcast https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/handheld-recorders/
