Anyone else out there a fan of #Scandinavian police #TV series? I stumbled on a great whodunit #mystery #series on #Kanopy streaming service @kanopy called #TROM that’s only 6 episodes but it’s really good—surprised Netflix didn’t offer this.
Set in the endlessly STUNNING scenery of the Faroe Islands: it’s really good. 😎
Astounding, *powerful* book I HIGHLY recommend—ALOHA BETRAYED by Noenoe K. Silva.
Completely upends 100 years of misleading, biased, lazy, one-sided coverage of late 1800s #Hawaii and the theft of the nation by greedy, racist, “Christian” American oligarchs.
It’s an academic book full of research, but it’s what the research revealed that rewrites the history of the American coup against Hawaii.
Incredible book. Should be a movie.
BUSTED!
More and more I’m spotting landmarks in New Mexico-produced shows, like Netflix’s DARK WINDS.
In S4E3, this bus is heading west to LA? Nah. That’s the frontage road next to US 285 at Cuyamungue, just N of Camel Rock Studios where DARK WINDS is produced! Driven this road 1000X. 😂
Meanwhile, in #NewMexico, this now is a thing:
Like some kind of unfunny, wretched, cringey, never-aired, never-edited-down SNL short, THE HISTORY OF CONCRETE was a 100-min ordeal.
Well, ok, 70-min, when I walked out after probably the 3rd held-too-long shot of a filthy New York toilet.
The film was making me dislike NY even more. Bleh. 🤮🤷♂️
What in Hades IS this thing?
Look at the look “George Washington” is giving on that thing. He seems disgusted at this whole state of affairs.
Is this an ACTUAL United States quarter I was given with change at some store the other day?
ALSO, watch closely and you get to see the greatest swtcheroo in film since Igor’s hump switched sides in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN: here we have scenes of the dog w/ artificial left front leg, then right, then left, or even both legs intact! Continuity schmontinuity, I say! Woo-hoo! (Or, woof-woof!)
What IS it about #movies featuring humans and dogs as main characters, where every five minutes there must be yet another scene of the dog slobbering its tongue all over the face and mouth of the human? Or show the human drinking from a water bottle the dog *just* licked?
HEART OF THE BEAST, man. 🤷♂️
THE WEIGHT was good. Worth seeing.
A rare action-adventure that feels like SORCEROR meets DELIVERANCE. It’s easy to imagine Eastwood or McQueen in Hawke’s role if this were a 70s film. Good directing, good script (couple of nice red herrings), good cast, good lensing. Good flick!
RESIDENT EVIL is a misnomer. RAMPANT STUPIDITY would be a better title.
If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s fumbling, incompetent protagonists. This is based on a VIDEO game? (Never played.) It’s a remake of other R.E. movies?! (Never seen.)
I should have stayed away.
Zach Cregger’s worst movie yet, by far. Pure garbage.
Seen this morning on the back of a pickup truck in #SantaFe.
(Bigger question: would Jesus really drive a gas-guzzler with a planet-killing exhaust pipe like that?)
Gorgeous morning in #SantaFe, #NewMexico
So IT ENDS is a film I’m gonna call, er, BACKROADS.
On a separate note, when was 21, neither I nor any of my friends talked the way these four people talk, which is more like 14-yr-olds than 21-yr-olds.
It makes me think this is a parable about weaponized social media: at some point everyone quits. 🤷♂️
[I’d also love to believe it’s a parable about people driving cars with exhaust pipes: at some point, no matter how stubborn you are, you WILL get rid of it.]
THE DOG STARS was a pointless, lifeless, awful film, completely phoned in from the jagged Dolomites of Italy absurdly passing for the Rocky Mtns of Colorado. I even hated the whiny hyperactive dog. Good god this was bad. I walked out about 70 minutes in, nothing and no-one worth caring about.
Josh Brolin had nothing to do and his role was almost a cameo.
Ridley Scott’s worst-ever film—gives new meaning to “Scott Free.”
Even the music was a ripoff.
Boooo!
New phenomenon, at least in #SantaFe #NewMexico. Drivers come to streetlight intersections where they have a red light. They pull up to the white line, pause, then run the red light and continue on their merry way.
I see this sometimes multiple times per day.
The whole world just doesn’t give a shit anymore.
🤷♂️
Um, did I miss the memo?
What happened to digital voice recorders?
Like, Sony’s whole line of them is *gone*?!
I’ve been using a trusty Sony ICD-UX560 model for 8 years for interviews and it’s always been FANTASTIC.
Was thinking of getting a newer model but… Sony’s stopped MAKING ‘em?
What happened?🤷♂️
