👏 👏 👏
I am so much happier using #Pixelfed than Instagram. Like, I actually get to see beautiful photos on Pixelfed, whereas Instagram has turned into mind numbing short form video content.
Also, Pixelfed doesn’t constantly keep moving a marketplace button to where a notifications button used to be.
So, I never delete contacts from my phone. Thanks to that, Siri is now recommending I send a happy birthday text to someone who I “dated” for 2 weeks when I was 20. Lol
My favorite part of that was when she asked me why I liked her and I literally couldn’t think of anything and said “I like that you like me.” Hahahah, I was so dumb and immature then, it’s humorous now tho.
@gruber hey👋
I ran into you in real life in a coffee shop last week, and wanted to say hey here too.
I just randomly met @marcoarment in a coffee shop.
Lol, he doesn’t look anything like his mastodon profile pic (which is the only one I’ve ever seen of him).
Why tf does Anthropic release up to three updates a day for Claude Desktop ???
The fact this idea/post is going to be so unpopular proves my point that everyone needs to shut tf up about calling existing policies or proposals as “open border policies.”
It’s quite annoying how so many people call “left wing” immigration policies “open boarders,” when they’re anything but an open border policy.
A) no left wing politician is advocating for open-boarders
B) I wish there actually was an open border policy (similar to a no-fly list, everyone can move to the US unless on a no-immigration list).
Now, I don’t think every country needs to do this, but the US should, and then all European countries should have open borders for any former colonies.

#Mastodon #fediverse question, if I write a toot in French, selecting French as the language of the post, then write alt-text in English, will that mess up people who use #screenreaders ?
Since I’m still trying to learn French, if I already know how to say something in French, and it makes more sense to write in French (like my meeting friends post, including the Eiffel Tower pic), I want to use French. But I also wrote the alt-text in French thinking I had to.
What’s best practice here ?
J’ai rencontré quelques amis de Reddit aujourd’hui ! Voici : on n’est pas tous des trolls qui habitent dans le sous-sol de leur mère.

A good news day
5yrs ago today. RIP my naturally sun bleached tips.
Any transit system that describes the direction a train is going using the name of the last stop, and not the cardinal direction is stupid.
You really expect me to know the names of all the middle of nowhere towns at the end of the line ? Come on, that’s just fucking stupid.
On most metrics, the EU has the US beat when it comes to train travel EXCEPT when it comes to comfort. The worst seats on Amtrak are better than the best seats on any train I’ve taken in the EU (Eurostar, Thalys, and various SNCF trains).
This post brought to you by a Eurostar seat that’s uncomfortable AF
And because the problem is the Trump government, not simply Trump himself, assassinating just Trump would not stop the ongoing injustices.
And then practically, his crimes would never be prosecuted (so you’re actually denying justice its course).
We don’t need another Ulysses S. Grant “let us have peace” moment or a Gerald Ford pardon moment. We need full on prosecutions of every crime this government is committing, including challenging all of the past and forthcoming illegal pardons.
But here’s the main reason why a Trump assassination isn’t moral: the injustice is being committed by the Trump government, not him personally.
Today, with Trump, we’re the closest to Scenario 3:
A grave injustice is occurring: The Trump government is effectuating an immoral war in Iran, funding state sponsored terrorism, and mass-deporting largely innocent civilians in America, among other things.
However, there are laws against his government’s abuse of power. The plausibility of their enforcement depends on Democrats taking bake the House, Senate, and then the Presidency. And then also prosecuting his crimes…
After another assassination attempt on Trump, you’ll hear alot of people say that “violence is never the answer.” Unless you’re a Quaker (or some other actually pacifist religious group), anyone saying that is being dishonest to themselves.
And if you do actually think violence can be acceptable, you need to actually figure out where the line is. Going based of vibes is not enough.
Attached is a screenshot of where I currently am with the question “when is violence morally acceptable?”
Ce devrait être interdit, un eSim pour 1€ est fou ça. C'est qu’un QR code !
@atpfm interesting, I didn't even know ya'll ever posted on youtube (I listen on overcast), but then the episode where ya'll talk about video podcasts on youtube get’s promoted to me (even tho I've never interacted with your youtube account).
I wonder if ya'll talking about youtube in this episode is really what made them push it, or if that's just coincidence.
