I'm headed out to protest shortly, but I also put my money where my mouth is earlier today.
On top of what I normally give to these causes, I added $100 going to Black US Senate candidates via ActBlue:

I also added an extra $100 to the defense fund for Ukraine through United24:

If you have the means to support financially, please join me in funding dignity and democracy.

Saturday, Oct 17, 2026. See you in the streets. #NoKings
It is a depressing sign of the times that Marjorie Taylor Greene has come out more forcefully against the Trump administration trying to strip Ilhan Omar of her citizenship than the Democratic Party or any major newspaper.
RT: @StoneDunk Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍
Good article on consent and culture among gay men, including historical background. It was prompted by sexual assault allegations against a prominent gay candidate who withdrew from San Francisco’s District 8 supervisor race, which includes the Castro.

For those who find themselves confronted by a situation involving ICE (as a witness for example) but don't have a ton of help to offer, two basic actions you can take are:
1) film the abduction
2) If there are family members or friends left behind, provide them with the footage as critical evidence and at a minimum you can give them this resource: https://icerrt.com/
This site provides state and national contacts for different immigrant defense groups like the ACLU etc.
Definitely helping conservative people with their many fears is important. Most of them have very little actual understanding of progressive viewpoints.
But you help them not be scared by talking to them and with them. Not by enabling reactionaries and plutocrats. That only makes their fears worse.
I'm so exhausted by the constant struggle to debunk the AI cult hype. I find myself turning to the work of @timnitGebru @ketan, @emilymbender and @pluralistic to try to break the cycle and boost my determination. Who else do you seek out that is making sense?
@sysop408 It does affect D7. Disabling Field UI can be problematic if you've got an old Commerce installation as various Commerce UI modules that are needed depend on Field UI.
The D7 fix is in this commit:
https://github.com/pantheon-systems/drops-7/commit/9b327ab1c7053c745a2ff71cc0f8a1b06f876be1
@LabSpokane @heafnerj @ai6yr I think it already has, but nobody can figure out the right key combination
A widespread #Drupal vulnerability was disclosed today that affects the Field UI module that's been part of Drupal core for a long time.
Every version of Drupal since Drupal 8 is affected, but the way the advisory was worded, it's possible earlier versions are also affected.
Fortunately there is a very easy way to mitigate this if you're unable to patch. Just disable the Field UI module.
Today in #AI assisted spam slop, I got a cold email from someone who wants to setup amateur arm wrestling tournaments in public spaces as a way to drive foot traffic to downtowns and encourage community building.
I am not making this up.
We're having to avoid using pronouns in our house because our cat has figured out that anytime we say he or him, we're referring to him and it usually means he needs to take his medicine or have his nails trimmed.
Regarding the Danfoss fridge thing doing the rounds in the media - there’s several thousand of them that are directly internet facing.
The username is admin and the password changes every day automatically to.. the current date.
Every single one is like this. You can just log in and change the temperature. Anybody can do it, easily scriptable.
In case you're wondering about the future of art in the era of AI, today I learned about Scarlet Deer Inn, a videogame where the characters were animated with *embroidery*
Have you ever apologized in your life?
No you have not

I posted a clip of hers a while back. She posted a helluva cover of Crazy Train by Black Sabbath upon Ozzy's death last year.
Nini, a "folk metal" musician from Taiwan was about to kick off her US tour when a member of her band was detained and arrested by ICE at the airport yesterday as they were leaving rehearsals on their way to their first show of the tour.
The person they took is a professional throat singer who went to graduate school in the US, has been here over ten years, and is currently on an artist's visa while awaiting processing of their green card.
She put a call out to ask for lawyer help on her socials. She's a stunning talent at using traditional Chinese string instruments to weave next level sonic experiences and has a significant following. She probably already has good offers to help, but if you might be able to lend a hand, you can contact her.
