Been thinking more about El-Sayed and “Tommy”. Never forget that much of this country was founded by Christian religious zealots, people who put freedom of religion into their state constitutions and then the U.S. federal constitution not because they so much wanted people whose Christian sects differed from theirs to have freedom of worship but because the sects of them and their forebears were persecuted in England by King and Parliament. 1/

I remember when I worked in Sausalito, I'd often see a mix of boats anchored out in Richardson Bay, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge off Sausalito. I guess I was charmed by the independence and self-sufficient nature of it all.

I think it's sad and a bit wrong that this guy (and his friends before him) is being forced off the bay at this point in his life. He's the only one living on his boat in the middle of the bay; why not leave him be?

So apparently all the coordination, planning and communications for organising No Kings events on Instagram have disappeared and the account admins have been suspended.

So... here's the thing:

DON'T PLAN YOUR REVOLUTION ON THE KING'S BLACKBOARD.

The fact that organisers are depending on the availability of a platform run by any of the tech bros... well, it makes me think you aren't a terribly effective opposition.

My best friend's contractor didn't show for work yesterday.

Last night, his brother showed up and knocked on his door.

"My brother was picked up by ICE at his immigration hearing. When he called me, he told me to come to your house and finish the job." They gave him money and told him to go home.

My friend found a lawyer for the contractor last night, but as he said, "I'm not sure if I'm more shaken as an American or as a Jew."

We have to end this nightmare.
