🙏🏼 Thank you for spreading the news, @base4nfdi! Please join @lavaeolus @lipogg @julian @storytracer & me at our 23.11. workshop at @wikimediaDE Berlin, "Knowledge is a Commons". We deliver the playbook for how archives, libraries, radio stations... can make sure *today* that if something happens (blatant censorship, governments meddling with funding or infrastructure, whatever) civil society can readily take over, keeping open content continuously and smoothly accessible. Let's prepare now. 1/2

At CHI'26, we published a paper showing the harm done by institutions that scale up imperfect decision-making processes without also investing in their appeals capacity (https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3772318.3791923).

This year we had an 11,424 word submission rejected from #chi2027 “because it exceeds CHI’s length limit”. The CHI’s length limit is 12,000 words. “Desk rejection decisions are final.” There is no appeal. There is no due process.

Luckily I'm not running anything much on PHP these days, but I am having to go without my personal calendar until the security updates show up in the package repositories.

I might be out of touch with the CalDAV state of the art. Is there anything other than Baïkal that I should be running for single-person self-hosted CalDAV, or is Baïkal still good outside of ecosystem emergencies like today's?

It's the first time I'm doing something like this.

I'm a trans woman from Kazakhstan. There's no local demand for the skills I have and, with the current AI craze, my commission work has dried up.

I need at least ~$160 to be able to afford HRT. That'll be enough for two vials of EEN, which will last for 3 years. It's the cheapest option available, and this is what I did last time.

1. Webarchivierung von Regierungs- und Behördenseiten
2. generelle Unterstützung bedrohter Einrichtungen, Initiativen und Projekte

Improving Researchability of the Fediverse

With @cypherhippie, @julian, @marco_waehner and me, moderated by Christina Dinar. We talked about consent, data trustees, trust in research, and why infrastructure only becomes visible when it fails.

Yep, here's my presentation at Berlin FediDay 2026, where I talked about SciOp and its federation plans. 🙂

That was a really nice environment and audience for this exchange. Good Q&A too. I'm looking forward to the recording of the “research on the fediverse” panel at the end of the session.
