Now-Time is not your usual anthology: it's a verbo-visual grimoire. Every single page is a joy.
I'm glad to have contributed a short essay on the unconscious of graphic design.

"The medicalization of social media research is a given. Is this a sign of regression? A bitter victory after so many waves of marginal critiques? Or a sign of how bad the ‘distraction’ has eaten itself to the core of society that only life-threatening alarmism, set off more than 15 years ago by Nicolas Carr and Sherry Turkle, is making a difference? Is this the price that is paid for the democratization of ‘attention research’? Less a theory of moral panic and more theory as moral panic?" – Geert Lovink, 2026, “White-coat Authority”, _Institute of Network Cultures_, https://networkcultures.org/geert/2026/10/09/white-coat-authority/

I realize that my research, study, writing, call it what you like, increasingly consists of downloading reels and stories from social media, which I then use as "notes". There is something inelegant and wasteful about it, since I rarely need moving images: a still and a title would suffice.
If you thought the authoritarian turn wouldn't ripple out everywhere, look no further than Autistici/Inventati. I signed this letter in solidarity with them:
"We are artists, educators, curators, and professionals in the field of digital culture, and we view with concern what has happened to the Autistici/Inventati association.
On August 26, 2026, the United States added the Italian collective Autistici/Inventati to its list of anti-terrorism sanctions, accusing it of providing online services to violent groups. This occurred without any trial and without the association having received any formal complaint. The secondary sanctions resulting from this action prompted Banca Etica to close the association’s bank account and seize the donations deposited by users. These were people who were using the services that Autistici/Inventati offered for free […]"
This Wu Ming Foundation wrote a very good piece about the #AutisticiInventati situation. It's in Italian so I read it auto translated, but it would be really good to have someone translate this into English and German at the very least.

Interesting results, I though sleep mode would win, but I mean we're on Mastodon. Anyway, thanks everyone!

Now online: the Netherlands Student Intifada Archiving Project Index!
The Netherlands Student Intifada Archiving Project got started in May 2024, when the occupations at UvA and other Dutch universities were ongoing.
A number of action groups including the Amsterdam Student Encampment, Samidoun and Mokum Kraakt got together to collect documentation of the events – for evidence of police violence, but also to preserve the memory of the uprising, shape the narrative and learn tactical lessons for future protests. Hundreds of people contributed video, photos and written testimony.
For the sake of transparency and because we want other people to use the material in ways that helps the cause, we have now published an index of the archive. This provides an overview of what has been collected, including descriptions. Via the website, you can browse and filter the index and search for specific materials.
If you would like to see the material or make use of it in a way that benefits the cause, you can get in touch via the address listed on the website. We reserve the right to withhold any of the contents and won’t release any material that incriminates anyone (obviously). But we would also really like people to make use of the material in new ways, so if you have an idea, please email us!
Should We Be Worried?
