This one took about an hour.

So here's where I am after an hour of work. As this is a test I'm being fast and loose in my work. I'm concerned more with values than in details.

Bubble Gum Bandit - test painting

I'm learning how to mix my own grays and I'm testing them out on paper before I move to the 24x24 inch panel.

The process involves printing out the outline (standard printer paper size). Slipping a sheet of carbon paper between it and the watercolour paper (9x12 inch) and tracing the outlines. Remove the paper and carbon... et viola! Then I lay down a transparent colour to help me judge my tones.

October 09 - Art 365/282 - Rook

I normally do my daily watercolour sketches in one sitting. This time, though, I did it in three because I wanted time to layer the grays and blacks.

I've started to do the digital image which serves two purposes: the outline for transfer to the panel and the colour study. While working on the digital I decided more adjustments / details are needed.

Here is how my surreal pieces start. I put together a digital collage from my large vast photo collection. This piece has five photos. One my husband took, three I took, and one vintage portrait I purchased.

Next I'll draw my version of it in Procreate to test out the layout and sort out a color scheme. If I like it, I'll then do a larger painting in acrylics.
