I know the problem is not usually the name, but I think we need to rebrand adblock. The issue is not just ads, it's the arbitrary content hosted on a website that takes no responsibility for it.

Hey no one let me miss the Nightmare Eclipse drama coming today please

Fuckin Chrome and their "Hide the 'unnessasary' part of the URL" bullshit just had me panicking over a site being down when it wasn't

Okay I really like the way I needed to review a follow request from an account flagged by the moderator, despite not having locked down my account.

Do not forget to thank someone when they make a tool you really appreciate, especially when it surprises you in a really nice way .^

It's like my guest devices are still successfully getting their DHCP leaces from the router that's now configured to be a switch...

OKAY SO

ICANN being Americain is actually a problem. No contest.

BUT

and here's the thing:

ICANN can only control their records. We have decentralized disribution already!

There is room in the existing system to include alternative DNS infrastructure. What has really been missing is the motivation to spend the money to do so (for obvious reasons).

Create a european Source Of Truth that replicates IICAN, update the system to handle overriding results, and then ISPs can simply track that one! Bam!

okay yes smarter people than me and honestly probably all of China probably figured this out way earlier

Okay, found something that goes into it. Thanks whoever you are, owner of Jaze.dev. https://jaze.dev/guides/podman/volumes-in-podman

Goal: Make sure Data is properly persisted in container and in a known location for the yet to be crafted backup script.

Status: What the fuck? Where's the quadlet documentation? Why is this API describing web requests? ARE ALL THESE TUTORIALS JUST BRUSHING OVER THE SETUP OF A VOLUME?!

I'm trying to pick a linux distro for my server. I see CentOS (RHEL based - not sure how I feel about bringing that home?) and Ubuntu (Debian Based, but I no longer trust the maintainers), but I'm not sure if those are options I like. What is everyone else using?

Wasn't sure how to reply to everyone at once so I am trying to reach you all with an edit.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I learned a lot just trying to catch up, and helped me to get some direction.

I'm ending up with Proxmox, and am trying with Debian first, but have a note to try one of the BSDs.

If we have 97% of our money tied up in gambling, I am going to go ahead and believe we are post-scarcity.

@da_667 @mttaggart @cR0w @nyanbinary @chillybot Okay but can you maybe not reference a book that ends in the POV character actually liking what they are rejecting for this topic?

Many buisnesses still will want to wait for users on the lowest common demonimator browser.

I think part of how we take the internet back is if we don't. (We will need to include information on our sites about what browsers fully support the features we need).

It's time we let out a resounding "No. Catch up or be left behind".

Chromium will either catch up

Or people will learn to use a different fucking browser.

If your IT staff are asking for user passwords... yikes.
