If this helps anyone, this is part of a CONTRIBUTING.md file that I have on my current major project.

I'm not ready to discuss the project any further at the moment, but this is part of it.

    Contributions

While this project welcomes contributions and new contributors, any contributions larger than a few lines - in particular any new features or significant re-architecting or reorganization of the codebase - must begin with a discussion in the issue tracker that establishes the goals, scope, constraints and testing required for that change to be accepted.

The software per se is not the goal. Code is the implementation language of a shared understanding, and that shared understanding of a shared problem, between people with wants and needs living in the world, is the goal. That communities can gather around that shared understanding to benefit from it, improve their own situation or better the state of the world together, is the goal.

Constraints

Because creating code is so much easier than understanding, debugging and maintaining that code, particularly over the long term, large contributions offered before we've come to some reasonable consensus about structure, success conditions and acceptance criteria are not welcome. Because the priority of this project is the shared human understanding of human-scale systems, 'agentic', large-model or otherwise sochastically-generated contributions will be unilaterally rejected.
