(This post is from last year, but we're doing this again this year. As with last year, I'm able to provide some books, and maybe some other children's stuff.
We can work on the details privately.)

@ajroach42
I'm tired
I couldn't figure out why a hockey team would need to do anything with Jira tickets...
It’s 1986 and my mother is shouting at me to stop touching the computer, I’m wasting my life.
It’s 2016 and I am fixing mother’s computer, regaling her about the variety of rich opportunities computer touching has given me in my life.
It’s 2026 and I am cursing my mother for ever letting me touch a computer. I have wasted my life.
I have spoken at length about my distaste for all of the breathless coverage of You Can See Everything, but I haven't really elaborated.
You Can See Everything was (co-)directed by Lance Oppenheim.
I have a good friend who was a subject and participant in a Lance Oppenheim documentary.
She has been very outspoken about the ways he violated her trust, and a written contractual agreement, to exploit incarcerated people and their families.
You can see her statement here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Dep3JI2ioHH/
One of the other people involved recently published this: https://setforsentencing.substack.com/p/i-was-one-of-lance-oppenheims-first (My appollogies for the substack link, but that's the platform he used.)
In both cases, it is abundantly clear to me that, even if no law was broken, Lance's behavior certainly transgressed some ethical boundaries.
Hey, times is tough.
I run a bookstore.
If you've got kids in your life who are likely to have a sparse christmas, and who might be interested in (rather than disappointed by) books, shoot me a DM.

Hello Sharks, I'd like to present to you today the future of computing.
I call it Stephen.
Stephen is an intern.
You submit prompts to Stephen, in the form of Jira tickets.
Stephen then asks lots of questions, and then delivers something almost, but not entirely, unlike what you requested.
We're asking for 1.2 billion dollars for 30% equity, so we can scale Stephen.
@ajroach42@retro.social who wouldn't want to pick up a cool rock
@ajroach42 I wonder what a Neanderthal and Denisovan would consider a 'beautiful shell' and would it be much different to what we would think beautiful?
But also, I was listening to the b52s, so I'm reading about this rock that had a face on it that an early pre-human carried far away from where it would have been found, and then Fred Schneider screams "BUT IT WASN'T A ROCK" and I had to share.
Just the idea of ancient humans and pre-human species carrying around cool shit they found?
Beautiful.
Sometimes I end up on a wikipedia page I wasn't expecting, and I feel things.
Today it's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuport
We have a new comic book for sale! It will ship in about a week.
It's an anthology with a Kumiai-Ki The Mighty Labor Union Mech story and a Spacehawk story.
They're available to order on our website https://www.mountaintowntoys.com/product/mountain-town-comics-comics-of-revolutionary-joy-volume-1-issue-1/
Also, if you run a retail location and are interested in our comics, toys, or video games, hit me up! We offer wholesale pricing.
These will be the first copies of this comic to reach the general public! You'll get to see the origin of Kumiai-ki a few days before anyone else.
I'm not asking for money or any other compensation. I'm giving these away freely.
My request is that, if you like it, you support us in the future by telling someone about it, or buying a toy, or sharing one of our links, or giving your copy away again to someone else.
We're trying to do something unique, and pretty difficult here, and we can't do it without a community of supporters.
Here's a couple of pictures of the comic book proofs I'm giving away.
Like I said, these are zine style, printed on plain paper on an inkjet and stapled down the middle. They are not representative of the version we'll be selling, but they do contain all the same pictures.
I've still got a few unclaimed if you want one!
And here's a link where you can play one of our gameboy games free in your browser: https://ajroach42.itch.io/jupiters-ghost-away-mission-gbc
If you find yourself enjoy it, and wishing for an offline copy, but you don't have $5 to spend, lemme know and I'll send you a copy.
@ajroach42 ordered! I'm so excited for this!
