I love the morning light in autumn--like spot-and footlights warming to the stage and all her players.

Strangely lit photo of a small jetty of rocks (jutting in from the right-hand side of the photo) lying like a sleeping alligator on a shadowy, slate blue lake mouth. The sun is just rising to show itself through the off-camera willows, casting a warm spotlight on a black-crowned night heron leaning out, eir stocky, dark-capped white body stretched to hunt the water beneath eir yellow feet. In the shadows past the nose of the sleeping jetty, a pied-billed grebe swims in unsuspecting silhouette.
