I am unfamiliar with any time when top Democrats embraced "aggressive climate rhetoric", and I do not think suggesting companies self-regulate their emissions qualifies now that Donald J Trump has unilaterally imposed a global $100/ton carbon tax on the most difficult fossil fuels to replace, picking the highest hanging fruit even as he's planted the ladders in wood chippers.
