I dropped my phone and broke it again. It jumped out of my pocket while I was running for the train, and bounced off the platform onto the rocks on the tracks, shattering the screen.

How do y'all carry these enormous modern smartphones? I have huge cargo pants pockets but my latest phone is too big to fit securely even in those pockets. It's too big to fit in regular pockets comfortably.

I guess ladies carry them in purses? Maybe I need a man purse.

@skyfaller Maybe instead of getting a case sized for one’s specific phone we should get a pocket sewn into the outside of the pants leg that’s a close slip fit for one’s specific phone. Could try to turn it into a fashion trend. Would also solve the annoyance of a phone in a too-big pocket sliding down to sit horizontally

@skyfaller I am definitely not someone who keeps up with the fashion but I see a lot of "fanny packs" that people are wearing as cross-body type bags (sample example from random image search). Maybe that's the thing?

A person's torso, they are wearing a brown leather fanny pack over one shoulder so it is across their lower chest.

@jessamyn Sling bags happened here a while back – like before the pandemic? The street-fashion thing that came and went was quasi-tactical chest rigs.

They’re kind of pointless here because their insinuation is entirely empty, but they were nevertheless a thing for about twenty minutes. Or long enough, actually, to start appearing in more refined fabrics/with better proportions and detail. Haven’t seen one in awhile, though.
