    Using the sepia photoprint as my "underpainting," I finished the painting in my regular acrylic paints. It was an enjoyable excursion into strange territory for me. 2/3

    Black and white preliminary concept for ARISE featuring a hand reaching out of a formation of stone chimney stacks. Flames rise from the tip of each finger. Starting at the palm, skin peels away to reveal the blood vessels underneath. A variety of grotesque mouth shapes form at the top of the thin chimney stacks with the occasional tongue teasing out.
