@HOzosch As it happens, if people like this sound, I'll cherry pick it for RS and also devise a presence curve for it.

@nick @HOzosch To be honest, this is very good. But I like your first 16 kHZ, in beta 2.5, a bit better. And my favorite is still your 11.025 kHZ with the check box checked. But this one is also good IMO. I suggest using your original 16 kHZ option as people liked it the most. It also has the best s sound in the bunch.

@HOzosch @nick Yes. On the contrary, I hear that unpleasant sizzle in the latest 16 kHZ release which you introduced. In an attempt to fix the s issue, this one controls the s sound rather harshly, as if an old man were trying to pronounce s. In beta 2.5, the 16 kHZ sounds pleasant and mostly neutral across the board. Even its s sound, though rather pronounced, is quite tolerable and natural.

@amir @nick Hmm, I don't hear the sizzle so much in my version. I also wouldn't know how to make it better now. Bringing the sibilance component back would be too risky for me, because you didn't like that either. On the other hand, I might try to do that and decrease the overall s gain instead afterwards. But I don't know.

@HOzosch @nick Sorry to bring so much saddening news. But no. This is the worst type of S IMO. It's a pronounced s which sort of immitates the "sh" sound. The whole sound profile is, BTW, great other than the "s" sound which hits the wrong spot.

@amir @nick yes, I got that. That's why I didn't release it. And you mean every s sound? I'll stick to v21.2 for now, as I don't have an idea how to improve it. I checked it multiple times against a recording of the external 22 kHZ output, and the differences seem to be very marginal now, if at all there. I will improve it further when I have an idea, but for now, I've run out of ideas.

@amir @nick I'm still very reluctant to go back to the external upsampler, since the native way also increases performance.

@HOzosch @nick I also think we shouldn't return to the external upsampler. Your latest 16 kHZ sounds very good other than that s issue which is, granted, annoying. Nick's original 16 kHZ sounds very good to me - almost on a par with the now 11.025 kHZ which most of us like.

@amir See, I sort of disagree with @HOzosch here. At least in my Rust host, You're getting the EQ for free, performance-wise. The gap between when you switch from 11 KHZ to 16 KHZ is it literally live replacing files.

@amir Yeah, and that's why I'm going to end up having to double the addon's size, as I'm going to have to store two copies of every language so it's true switching, not live patching.
