Any gotchas I should look out for migrating from #Linux to #NetBSD? Or suggestions for helpful guides?

For desktop primarily.

Then, in 2024, a chunk of SpaceX metal was found on a Canadian farm. SpaceX, which previously disagreed with the F.A.A. report, did not respond to questions. The company now says that about 5 percent of the mass of some satellites may not disintegrate.

Today's thought was from a dairy I bought and used for several weeks and stopped. The quotes were all banal platitudes hoping to be aspirations. This wasn't any different. Something to the effect of, "Today could be your big opportunity"

At first I was like sure lets give it a go. It could be an opportunity to heal, to focus, to take better care of myself, to start working on my projects again, catch up on chores. The more I sat with it the more the hopium felt aggravating.

I chose poorly.

Grow. To accumulate on a former state. Seeking knowledge in breadth or depth. Getting stronger or bigger. Aspirationally, being better than before.

Ages. Gives a sense of time beyond the time of a human lifespan. In this life and after. How many generations can my kindness, service, and mentorship shape the future.

Not hurt anyone. Try not to inflict pain on animals, plants, insects, fungi, the planet. Tread softly.

It took effort to stay with it but easier as I started writing.

For my partner, hero might be nice sometimes if I'm honest. I like the idea of being there for her when she needs me.

Change. A transformation, growth, or decay. To become something and grow into it.

Tree. Trees are life giving. They silently grow and give the air we need. They provide food and shelter to other beings. Good community partners with fungi. And they adapt by growing leaves where they have sun and help spread water to the roots. Beautiful, centering, and grounding.

Not that I want to be a god or a hero. Just to change into a tree, grow for ages, not hurt anyone. -Milosz

This is a favorite I found decades ago. For the first few minutes, I thought how do I want to grow. I want to be able to take better care of myself, be better partner and friend, learn fun thing both in breadth and depth.

Then I really started picking it apart. The first sentence is a denial of extrinsic motivation. Which I have on lockdown.

Today's thought was a funny post on here where an autocorrected text said "What do you want from life?". While drinking my coffer my attention drifted and I came back to it. I had the thought, this feels a lot like practicing meditation. So gonna try to add that to my todo. I find it interesting that usually meditation is going back to the breath and here I'm going back to a thought. One is training the muscle and one is using the strength ...

This opinion piece resonated with me because I feel like my ability to focus has suffered since December. As I flit between one distraction to the next. I've tried various things to reclaim my attention and intention with little luck. As the author suggests, musing on an idea a day and coming back to it over and over to help build stronger pathways and seeking depth rather than breadth might be the key. Worth a shot.

#Introduction I joined after Cambridge Analytica and came back after reading Enshittification. I'm mostly here to enjoy the community and expand what that means beyond the people I usually interact with. I started using #linux with redhat 5.2 but mostly #debian since. I've worked with #PowerElectronics for about 13 years. I like sharing what I know. And I like celebrating what others find interesting. I live in #Seattle and if you do too I'll probably follow you. I volunteer at a tool library.
