tip if you're trying to work out how to use some undocumented library for which there's only a few implementations that use it, especially in an unfamiliar language: look first for incomplete implementations and old versions of production implementations

they often don't have all of the ergonomics and edgecase handling machinery yet, and so usually serve as a very straightforward example of how to get started with the basic functionality of the library, and from there it becomes easier to figure out the rest

mature production implementations are usually 80% project-specific stuff that kind of organically grew into it over the years for maintenance reasons and that can make it hard to figure out what it's actually doing at a fundamental level
