Het is vandaag Digital Independence Day!

Commons-based (independent org funded by EU taxpayer money) Let’s Encrypt compatible ACME certificate provider now, please.
CC @EUCommission (Unless you want Europe’s online security to be another bargaining chip for Trump et al.)
After individually meeting @rose.bsky.team in April and @seboslaw in May, it felt great to meet both again with @rude1.blacksky.team at #pubconf2026 This is still a competitive situation. Our protocols and the incentives they create matter. Our backgrounds influence what we build. Our financing models bind and enable us. But I felt all of us belonging to "Team Open" very strongly in Amsterdam. I am excited to see where this will bring us and what we can do together.

The winners of the inaugural Open Social Awards have been announced!
This initiative by @wearenew_public, PublicSpaces and @waag aims to give the field of decentralised social media a serious boost. The grand prize of €10.000 goes to the @newsmast. The Excellence Awards, each of €5.000, go to @blackskyweb.xyz and @sillapp. And the honourable mentions go to Bounce, Dandelion, Streamplace, Leaflet, and Bonfire Networks.
Congratulations to all winners!
Also nice to see @elmine 's lightning talk about #DoeiDag at @publicspaces
DoeiDag is every first Sunday of the month, it's a moment to look at ethical big tech alternatives. The next Doei Dag is this Sunday, June 7th! 🔥
Inspiring keynote (and cool kelp facts) from @kissane at @publicspaces
On stage now, @michael @bjoernsta @_elena @cubicgarden and Sherif Elsayed-Ali talking about working together across Europe at the @publicspaces conference.... 👀
TIL about Bridgy Fed and https://european.social during the excellent 'Strength through Diversity' panel at @publicspaces! 🔥
"Bridgy Fed is a decentralized social network bridge. It connects the fediverse, the web, and Bluesky." I'm really impressed with the coalition of open social web orgs working together!! 👏👏
The executive director of #Mastodon, the COO of #Bluesky, the Co-lead of #Eurosky and the founder of #Blacksky in a live discussion at the @publicspaces conference. How cool ♥️ Hopefully next year a more equal panel (Blacksky and Eurosky are based on Bluesky's protocol) 🙏🏽 #pubconf2026
