My dad has an iPhone 18 Pro Max. He's been using Apple's Braille Screen Input on it with great success. Then last night, it suddenly stopped working well for him, and he hasn't figured out what happened or how to fix it. He can type things like a full cell, dots 4-5-6, l, etc. but can't type real words on it. Anyone know what might have gone wrong? Please boost for reach. Thanks.
In case anyone's interested, here's a link to a post about accessibility improvements made to the Groups.io (mailing list/forum hosting service) site. https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/41373
The Web Authentication Working Group has published a First Public Working Draft of Web Authentication: An API for accessing Public Key Credentials Level 4.
This specification defines an API enabling the creation and use of strong, attested, scoped, public key-based credentials by web applications, for the purpose of strongly authenticating users. Authenticators are responsible for ensuring that no operation is performed without user consent. Read more at:

The Verifiable Credentials Working Group has published the first draft of a Group Note titled Verifiable Credentials Overview v1.1. Credentials are a part of our daily lives. Verifiable Credentials provides a mechanism to express credentials on the Web in a way that is cryptographically secure, privacy respecting, and machine-verifiable.

Claude and I have been working on a little something to do with what's been going on recently. After around three and a half hours, here is the very first audio that proves that it can almost certainly be done, and that we're definitely headed in the right direction.
@JeffBishop With regard to my newest Quill issues 623 and 624: Is creating issues the right thing to do when I find situations like this? These issues involve the AI Hub and Quill Eraser causing unexpected errors rather than opening. I cannot believe I'm the first person to have tested these features in 0.7 Beta 1, and I hope it's not something specific to my setup that's causing these.
@JeffBishop Possible feature suggestion for Quill, though this may be going a bit over and above what it's designed to do. Export a document (hopefully already Markdown or HTML) to a text-only DAISY book suitable for reading on a player like Victor Stream or some of the Plextalk/APH units which can read text-only DAISY books, or for opening in something like APH Book Wizard Producer to use TTS to create a full text/audio book. Again, no worries if this is too far out of line for the project vision, just a thought.
@JeffBishop This all sounds great. I look forward to trying Quill out. Going to bed soon so it'll be later today.
33 years ago this week, on 30 April 1993, CERN released the code for the Web to the world. This effort, advocated by Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, has changed the world.
Tim founded W3C in 1994 to advance web standards.
Web standards are blueprints of a consistent and harmonious digitally connected world that power our experience on the web.
This #GivingTuesday, please consider supporting us in making the web work, for everyone.

@matt Oh BTW, did you see my post from yesterday where Claude deciphered the note data format for an Apple II music playing program called Appleodion from 1978? I had it write scripts to convert between Appleodion and MIDI. There are still a few bugs, but in general it works.
From the 17 January edition of The Week:
"The US Consumer Product Safety Commission keeps a database of the various items that people in America have got stuck in their rectums. The most recent
data shows that about 4,000 people (average age: 43) seek hospital treatment for such mishaps per year. Among the items recorded were beard clippers, a sandal, uncooked pasta, a dog chew toy, an egg, a turkey baster, a pair of glasses and a shampoo bottle."
The mind is not the only thing that boggles 😂
Dear Amazon, if you're going to use AI enhanced synthetic speech for Audio Description on your Prime TV series, the least you can do is check it for pronunciation quality. The voice being realistic isn't enough.
In Talamasca: The Secret Order, AD mispronunciations include "Surré" instead of "Surrey", "alyus" instead of "alias", and "one hundreds" instead of "hundreds".

The Web Application Security Working Group has published a First Public Working Draft of Device Bound Session Credentials.
Device Bound Sessions Credentials (DBSC) aims to prevent hijacking via cookie theft by building a protocol and infrastructure that allows a user agent to assert possession of a securely-stored private key. DBSC is a Web API and a protocol between user agents and servers to achieve this binding.

Advanced notice: Browser extensions have been available in the market since 1997 and W3C has attempted for years to increase interoperability in this area. The mission of the Web Extensions Working Group is to specify the common core of cross-browser extension APIs.

The Decentralized Identifier WG has published a First Public Working Draft of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) v1.1. This document specifies the DID syntax, a common data model, core properties, serialized representations, DID operations, and an explanation of the process of resolving DIDs to the resources that they represent.
DIDs are a new type of identifier that enables verifiable, decentralized digital identity.

35 years ago, on 12 March 1989 Sir Tim Berners-Lee wrote “Information Management: A Proposal” outlining the World Wide Web.
Tim's vision outlined a future we are still creating:
"We should work toward a universal linked information system... to allow a place to be found for any information...and a way of finding it afterwards...
...we will be looking for a systems which are future-proof:
• portable, or supported on many platforms,
• Extendible to new data formats."
