Whelp. Just ran a game on Steam, denied a few wildly unnecessary online connections, was about to click continue to load my last save, and the game froze. Killed it, restarted it, and the entire drive_c prefix for the game with all my saves and everything is gone.

I checked the prefix. It's literally just gone. There is no drive_c folder there anymore.

I guess Steam's online sync thing just happily deleted the online saves or something?

EDIT: Re-allowed one of the connections and suddenly it works again. The drive_c is back in the prefix, complete with all the old files including logs? I... I don't even know anymore. Steam, go home. You're drunk.

So far my journey with Gentoo has been... surprisingly decent? I know now what I did wrong the first time I decided to try it. Installation is absolutely no fun and I still strongly dislike emerge and the way I'm sometimes forced to just straight up manually write in package.use or etc files, but all in all it's working surprisingly well. Everything is very snappy and efficient. In fact, power usage is slightly lower for whatever reason. I will say I still feel like OpenRC is a pleasure to use. I don't see why everything is still relying on systemd when OpenRC is available and excellent.

Still worried I'll run into something I want but can't get working since there seem to be no downloadable packages (and my luck with compiling such things is bad,) but, all in all it's going great.
