Then I was dreaming that it was a different company I was at.
I was head down in some project, when the CEO, a serious woman in her 40's, pulled me aside and urgently told me,
"We just figured out that our head developer has been secretly working for our competitor, Bearly Working. There are suspicious commits in the code. We think he put in backdoors in our shipped versions."
Then suddenly time jumped forward.
Anxiety dream about working in tech:
There was a startup that promised to move large white insulated shipping containers of running cryogenic quantum computers.
But CEO was full nuts, wanted a big press spectacle.
"Move the servers by giant hexacopter! Suspended by a single umbilicus! While the servers are still running! With people working inside the container! Up the cliff face! While everyone is trashed on beer! And wearing bear suits! 'Cause it's Bearsuit Friday. Ha ha ha!"

Alameda party for a high school grad, son of wife's friend. Nice people, old craftsman house all loaded with family and friends, food and conversation.
Sometimes, I think it helps to think of people's emotional skillset like a toolbox.
What's in the toolbox?

I think of that, when I get a disappointing response from someone, or think of when I have acted in a disappointing way.
Stepped out the front door to run back to store.

At the edge of the yard, by the sidewalk, our bookbox was lit up by the two solar yard lights shining down on the books inside.
At the box, was a parent with two small children. Door open, checking out the books.
Happy that they were!
Hope the kids found something inside.
Drove past Trader Joe's grocery on my way home, bought some sunflowers, a card, and some chocolate for my spouse, for Mother's Day tomorrow.
Yes, most flowers were gone. Stampede had passed through.
On a whim, I also went in the thrift store nearby and bought a small ceramic rabbit. Brought it home cleaned it, and snuck it into the dish cabinet.
Waited. Eventually, she went to get a plate, stared, said amused, "Ha! What's going on here?"
Ordered a LoRa meshy radio from Seeed, got it yesterday, flashed from website meshcore.io, bumbled radio settings until I saw "choose preset", chose "US", then was on the waves at 910.525 MHz.
Beep, boop...
Contacts, mostly repeaters, started showing up as the radio saw packets go by.
I sent out an "Alert • Flood Routed".
Repeaters kept answering, saying "Yeah, we see you."
Bouncy-bouncy, from the Coast to the Central Valley, Sonoma to SLO.
Pretty cool for 150 mW.
Tired.
Got home, beeped car locked, then walked up to house, held up my car key, and clicked it. The front door did not open. Huh?
Driving to work, early in morning, had driver-side window down to let some cool air in. Truck came up behind, with its bright white lights blasting my eyes. Blinking and annoyed, I rolled up my window. The light did not get any dimmer. Huh?
Tired. I am just tired.
At least, I hope I am just tired.
Instead of just climbing into my lap this morning, for our morning time on the couch together, our elder tortie climbed right up my belly and stuck her nose under my arm.
She's purring so intently.
I think I must be in rapid charge mode.
Taking a break from string-trimming the backyard.
At some point, we bought a Ryobi online, and it turns a bunch of Amps into flying grass. Almost too much so, I have to stay upwind of oxalis, or I wind up vaping oxalis mist.
The main part of the yard isn't supposed to be grass. It's our #garden area. And with this weird heat, I dunno, are we supposed to be getting ready for #tomatoes already?
Knock down the grass, find where the pavers go overgrown, maybe strip the garden beds clear!
Out mowing the yard, I saw a guy go past, slow, turn his motorcycle around, come back. He stopped, asked if it was our bookbox by the sidewalk.
"Hope so, it's in our yard. Yes."
"I got a book out of there, and OMG, I couldn't put it down! It was 'Red Notice', by Bill Browder."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. That's good."
I went inside, found a related book, "Red Mafia", brought it out and gave it to him.
It felt good, to know that some of our efforts are working, you know?
"Oh! I should take a picture of that ant sculpture for @futurebird !"

Americano water pot's handle fell off.
Tap-welded bracket's threaded hole was stripped out.
So I attached the bakelite handle to the standoff bracket with some random Ikea furniture hardware.
Then slotted the standoff with a dremel disk, put a stainless hose clamp through, and grabbed the pot around its waist.
Onward, toward the dawn!
Junkpile exploring, found my old Raspberry Pi model B with original Adafruit PiTFT 320x240 screen, 4 GPIO buttons, case to hold it upright, like a bedside alarm clock.
SD card in it was junk, so dropped the modern Raspberry OS, "Trixie", onto a new SD card, booted.
Single core. Took 5m to get to desktop.
Tried to fsck old SD, no luck. No backup.
What had I done years ago?
Pygame, Frame buffer. Display time with changing color for numbers? Images from from yard cam?
Spouse was talking to the cat and asking him "What's up, Little Man?" and unbidden her phone replied, "I am not a little man. I am a large language model."
Which isn't really funny.
Phones can't be secured.
Our tabby guy is sitting on the cat tower next to the front window, this morning. I walked up slowly, asked him what he was watching.
Outside, in the cold gray morning, a hummingbird flitted about the sage, 2 meter away.
Tabby chattered "ck-ck-ck-ck!"
At some point, I set my Mastodon account to require that I approve those that would follow me.
In my bio, I ask potential followers to offer at least some evidence that they are human and humane.
If I don't get that response, I might send a reminder.
Otherwise I just delete the request.
Again I had a dream about eating a lox bagel sandwich, so yesterday I went and got one.
So the dream gods commanded, so I must do!
But yesterday, it was kinda a shit day anyway.
A shopping cart fell over when I was trying to move it away from my new car and clonked a nice dent into my fender.
Felt kinda exhausted and dopey, like I probably shouldn't operate power tools, or do much driving.
Wouldn't be wise.
So I just took a long nap instead.
