It’s my first time seeing this 1482 edition of Ptolemy’s Cosmography with stunning hand-coloring. I think it’s the prettiest blue I’ve ever seen in a book illustration. https://id.lib.harvard.edu/alma/990025422690203941/catalog

This is a marvelous example of whimsy and craftsmanship! A rare Greek askos, made in the shape of a lobster claw.
Dating back to approximately 450 BC, the vessel was used to hold perfumed oil. 🦞

Fediverse, the social media system for 40+ year old people who built the world wide web and regret it.
While all these title pages are dated 1599, the printings span a period of 40 years. The author was imprisoned in the Tower and the book suppressed, so printers met the demand by regularly producing new “1599” editions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hayward_(historian)
Buzzard on my garden gate post this morning.
DR har en unik umulighed for at gå forrest og vise vejen med og til Fediverset og den ægte demokratiske samtale.

Gardeners World magazine ‘Best of the Best’ competition:
I can now reveal that my allotment has been selected as the overall winner by a team of judges in the final round.
My allotment was chosen as the best garden out of the 20 winning gardens of the past 10 years of the ‘Garden of the Year’ competition, quite amazing as this means they chose my wildlife allotment over a competition of ‘proper’ gardens made up exclusively of other past winners. 😃

Random fun fact: one of the largest private art collections in the world is owned by Nandos for display in their restaurants. They own 32,000 pieces from 700 South African artists.
After doing some research I have now planted my new bog garden, which was the former new pond which I had to fill in. I planted some ferns such as shuttlecock fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) and royal fern (Osmunda regalis), also Caltha palustris, Trollius chinensis, Ligularia dentata, Primula florindae, Carex elata, Lythrum salicaria, Geum rivale and Iris ensata. Looking forward to next year when everything is hopefully growing well and looking good 😃. #plants #garden
“More than 1,400 Roma fought against the German Nazi occupation in Czechoslovakia. A new exhibition in Prague showcases the stories of partisans and soldiers whose fates barely received any attention for decades.”
Today I learned! 🙂
