Is there any way to install old, pre-creative cloud versions of InDesign etc on modern computers?

“Hey Klim team! We’re having a few problems with your fonts in vibe-coded InDesign. Can we jump on a quick call…”

@FontID Any idea what this is?

Is there any other software than fonts where people expect free updates after decades?

“Trust your own eyes, question what you see and decide for yourself whether the theory of optical corrections holds up,”
This is about architecture, but there is a lot of similar wisdom in type.

Is it possible to cut text-size monotype machine mats these days?

Rosalie is amazing 💪

A question for game devs regarding fonts: what does the T means next to the type sizes?

For example, 20pt 30T ?

What is your preference for asterisk* dagger† and double dagger‡ when used as reference marks?

Should †‡ be sized as superscripts? Or should they be cap-height, ish? In some German typesetting birth/death dates are set:

(*1516, †1592)

and the expectation is full-height †.

And how common is this sequence for non-superior numeral footnotes?

https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/53691/when-a-dagger-is-used-to-indicate-a-note-must-it-come-after-an-asterisk?

* (asterisk)
† (dagger)
‡ (double dagger)
§ (section mark)
|| (parallels)
# (octothorp)

Hellbox by @jakeflem is phenomenal. Best proofing tool I’ve used.

16 years ago, the first public working draft of Web Open Font Format (WOFF) was published. WOFF is how downloadable fonts on the Web went from "no-one uses it" to "most sites use it".

I reflected on this milestone in a blog post today:

In the NYT today talking about Coca Cola’s new typeface 🤠

Oh FFS. Literally ripped my 2 month old tech info layout. I deliberately put in “Kerning” as a joke, a wink to the 90’s kerning pair flex. I wondered how long before someone thought it would be “legit” to copy 😂

Are there any lovely Dutch words for “sans” and “serif”?
