Gone was the cool and calculating Janša of Spring this year, who seemed positively zen compared to the chaotic aboutfuckery of Logar, Stevanović and even Vrtovec. In his stead, we got back the dark, brooding and conspiratorial Janša we all know and, well, love. In a weird and toxic way, but still… #slovenia #politics #referendum https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/10/15/panic-at-the-right-wing-disco/
Perrhaps the weirdest of the three consultative referendums is the one on disenfranchising third-country nationals in municipal votes. This franchise has been on the books ever since and has caused exactly zero problems, meaning that the SDS, NSi and Resnica uncorked this banger purely for the love of the game. #slovenia #politics #referendum https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/10/09/culture-war-referendums-part-two/
Having emptied their ideas tank about two weeks after taking office, the Glorious Leader and his ilk are doing the one thing they know how to do. Wage culture wars. Which is why the good people of Muddy Hollows will vote in four referendums this Sunday, each more damaging to democratic values than the other. #referendum https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/10/08/culture-war-referendums-part-one/
Predreferendumski speedrun v #LDGD S09E03. Plus poskusi demontaže predsednika in podpredsednice DZ, karmične točke za gojenje zelenila na domačem vrtu in #politbizarka.
The one person who did not get fazed by any of this was Katja Kokot. The leader of Resnica parliamentary group and Muddy Hollows’ answer to Marjorie Taylor Greene would not stand out in any random sample of MAGA loyalists. And that includes pushing pseudo-scientific ideas nuttier than a port-a-potty at a peanut festival. #slovenia

First it was the seat-belt revelation. Then NPM’s office wouldn’t share the names of the people travelling with her. Then it was the Russian citizenship. Then it was the travelling costs. All of this was quite literally the case of a cover up being worse than the crime. Even though there was no crime to speak of in the first place. #slovenia
Logar, Vrtovec and Muscles from Kranjssels (sorry :))) of course knew they were being less than honest in their argumentation. They also knew that unlike Golob, who started his term with five victories at the ballot box inside of six months, they would get their asses handed to them if it came to a referendum challenge. Which is why they tried to do an end run around that.
Ljubljana mayor Zoran Janković is about to enter the wildest four months of his political career. A parking ordnance blunder and a former PM may have something to with it #ljubljana #slovenia https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/07/10/will-zoran-jankovic-finally-meet-his-match/
In a proof that old habits die hard, Miha Jazbinšek remained convinced that paper is a rare commodity, even in the digital age. To wit, he regularly sent out Word documents with margins extended all the way into the bleeding edge of the page, often making them impossible to print out. Because you know, we gotta conserve paper. #inmemoriram https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/07/08/miha-jazbinsek-1941-2026/
Plus Gizmo, decentralizacija in referendumi - nacionalni in lokalni. In en hiter in memoriam Miha Jazbinšek. Tole še poslušamo pa gremo 😆/cc @dc43

Last but definitely not least, here is part four of the Janša government 4.0 explainer. Featuring the trio of remaining ministers, the duo of Resnica rampagers in the parly and the uno of Police Academy. Because of course 😆

Janša 4.0, part 3. Not just about Franci Matoz, though Janša appointing his ̶c̶o̶n̶s̶i̶g̶l̶i̶e̶r̶e̶ personal lawyer as minister of interior probably deserves a standalone blogpost. https://www.pengovsky.com/2026/06/28/whos-who-in-jansa-4-0-part-three/
"Tech CEOs in 2026: 'We spent billions to hopefully one day have an ai that can make people feel like it's portraying real emotions for tv, but we need way more money to do it'
Jim Henson in 1955: 'yeah so I stuck some ping pong balls to a bit of old felt and called it Kermit'"
Glasujte tu -> https://metinalista.si/glasovnica-superfinalisti-ldgd-za-politbizarko-leta-2025-26/
