moment of the day: activated DE-0825 from a nice spot in the middle of nowhere.

Act 1: Several US stations in the log today, one with a very faint signal struggling against the local band noise on 20m. Took me countless tries to correctly pick up his call sign.

Act 2: Turns out, the call came from the State of Washington, US west coast. Wow, doesn't happen too often for me during portable ops.

Act 3: Got an e-mail from that guy, saying thank you for the park.

    Totally blew me away. 😊

A map showing amateur radio contacts from Germany across Europe and North America, with lines connecting the station to 73 QSOs made during a portable operation. One of those lines is connected to the State of Washington, US west coast.
