I've received credible information indicating that Walter Koenig passed away last night.

I'm saddened to say I don't know much about Walter outside of his acting work and his commentary on The Seventh Rule podcast. I admired his work deeply.

Thank you for the incredible memories, Walter.

Join me here in about an hour and ten minutes!

On most Mondays, I live toot an episode of a TV show at 1PM EDT (UTC-4). Of this week's episode, TMDB says:

Talyn gets the urge to fly into a sun. While in its vicinity Stark is contacted by an alien woman who is being held against her will.

In part 2, V pretends to be Sailor Moon to fool the enemy. She's fairly off and their enemies aren't falling for it. It's pretty hilarious.

Watching Sailor Moon. I've been putting off this two parter because it's Usagi's birthday and the preview sounded stressful.

Haruka hit on Usagi when she thought Usagi was breaking up with Mamo. I think it's slightly weird that Haruka is always flirting with other girls in front of her girlfriend but that seems to be the show right now.

They spent money on a car stunt. Granted, the stunt didn't involve a jump or anything.

"This place was once a funeral parlor wasn't it?"

"All the way out here?"

I don't remember what got me interested in this series but I'm checking it out tonight. Couldn't live toot it because I have to keep backing up to catch stuff I missed. No live tooting because of the backing up problem.

The dialogue writing and acting are pretty wild.

Being a fan(?) of the Underworld movies and something of a film buff is kind of funny.

Every time a new one comes out, the box office returns are stellar and the professional reviews are all "Gosh, I don't know, guys. These movies are really bad. Why do people keep going to them?"

Even the arguably unnecessary prequel Rise of the Lycans earned back nearly 3x its budget in ticket sales. Reviewers remain perplexed.

I'm not sure I can express the reason for the appeal either. Vampires and werewolves getting into gunfights in a modern setting where people aren't supposed to know they exist is one hell of a setup. The series is big on style and the amoral-to-immoral internal politics of the vampires is kind of fun to watch.

The CG for the werewolves is offensively bad.

Werewolves as a metaphor for colonized people and vampires as a metaphor for colonizers generally works well.

Anyway, it's not high art but, if you're having fun, who gives a shit?

The local version of neanderthals attack them by throwing clubs at them. Apparently, the prime directive doesn't apply to phasering large crowds of them. The dude who stayed behind on account of the phasering has groovy ankle warmers.

Jimmy Doohan's hair remains remarkable.

ExtraCuddlesBoy (the cat) objects to me typing while he's on my lap so I guess we'll see.

"But what if you're wrong, captain?"

"If I'm wrong, Spock will die."

Reminds me of "second screen" TV, explaining and re-explaining itself all the way through.

Spock has a very christmas gold coded fabric thing over his head.

"His brain is gone."

Jimmy Doohan has a fabulous new head tribble and precious few lines. I'm not sure why he's here.

The actors are doing an admirable job with some of the goofiest logic and lines I can imagine.

Oh, man. Some very "with it" woman appeared on the bridge and used her magic bracelet to do sound effects that bounced everyone around a bit. Got to see some hilarious dramatic fallings. Usually this comes with camera shakes but not today since it's not the ship shaking.

Majel Barrett had the best one.

I'm watching what is widely considered the goofiest star trek episode. If you guessed Spock's Brain, you are right.

If you think some other episode is goofier, you may be right.

This is not a live toot but commentary is likely.
