I'm curious, how much overlap is there between the #Monsterdon crowd, and lovers of the horror genre? I know most of the movies we watch with Monsterdon are kind of in the interest of laughing collectively at how comically bad they are. But I live in a world mostly dominated by the realm between horror and Sci-Fi and would share more stuff with the Monsterdon tag if there was interest there in monsters, monster movies, horror, horror Sci-Fi, etc.

But I also know that some people like to use the Monsterdon tag for stats and stuff. So I guess I'll ask here, is random posting to the Monsterdon tag with clips of monster movies, horror video finds, etc something others would be interested in? If so is it alright to do so? Or should I cut my own tags for that and just make one mention of it and people can hop on if they're interested?

It's not something I'd use all the time, just now and again when I find something interesting that I think others might be similarly intrigued by. Like the earlier post I made regarding the monster from "The Ritual."

Speaking of DVDs, finally got ahold of this movie. A horror film shot from the unique perspective of the dog called, “Good Boy”.

I swear every recipe that I've ever had that involved using Monk fruit sweetener is far too sweet. I made a brownie recipe tonight that used it, and it's so sweet I can't eat it.

It's either that, or I don't like monk fruit in baking. Which is starting to seem just as likely.

The future will be determined not by technology, but by critical reasoning and living with intent. Short form content is actively sapping the attention spans of *everyone*, young and old. The difference is that the older among us remember a time we can reference to realign ourselves. The newer generation doesn't have that.

Limit your dopamine intake. Add friction to your tasks (writing with a pen and paper vs digitally). Read a physical book, with ink. Hold a real, in-person conversation with someone for an hour. These are the skills that will be in demand in the future. It doesn't seem like much, but it matters more than you think.

The rich are taking their kids out of public school and into private institutions where tech is limited and studying is done with analog tools. They know the truth, and are trying to hide it from you. It's never too late to forge a new path.

So I just found out that both my Apple Watch and iPad are going to be left out of *OS27 in about 3 months. Both are quite old, so that doesn't really shock me. I've been kinda' waiting for that now for the last couple years.

The reasoning though makes me wonder if I want to replace them. Or if I'll be sticking in the Apple ecosystem at all. Apparently they're being dropped, because they can't support Apple's new "AI" centric features.

The phones are getting a pass, you'll be able to update something as old as an iPhone 11 to iOS27. But just about everything else that runs a variant of their mobile OS will be seeing some models lose support.

I may decide not to upgrade them at all though. I'm still not a fan of "AI", and seeing as that seems to be the main focus of this it's definitely giving me pause. So far we've been able to disable all the "AI" stuff that's been added to MacOS, and it hasn't really been added to any of the mobile OS variants. But with 27, it will be there. And Apple has paid billions to Google to use their models, so there's a huge incentive there for them to force it on. I'm HOPING that apple doesn't do this, but we won't really know till it drops. And it will always be a threat going forward.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I want to see how Apple handles this, but I'm really not wanting "AI" on my devices. Alternatives are pretty nonexistent as well. This may just be the end of tablets, smart watches, and smartphones for me.

In the US, and probably other places too, but I only know what it's like here. We have this odd social norm where we often fein interest in each other by asking something like "Hey, how's it going?" Or, "How ya' doing?" And the expected response is always something positive, or the default cancel, that being some variant of "I'm fine," or "it's going fine."

It's never expected that someone will be honest if they're having a bad day. And answer in that vein. So when someone does answer honestly and in the negative, it makes things awkward.

The person that asked, now caught out of the usual positive response loop might get confused and struggle with how to respond to an answer that isn't a positive. Things get awkward.

I play this game too when I have to. Most of the time I say "I'm doing fine" or "things are pretty good." It's one of the few lies I'll still allow myself because it means nothing. It's the expected response to the prescribed question in greeting. And the honest truth is no one really wants the deeper answer anyway.

I will say this though, if a friend ever asks this and honestly wants the deeper answer, even if it's bad... That's someone special there. Someone that actually cares. Hold on to folks like that, they're few and far between.
