I am content with my day #today.

I attended to a lot of smaller, helpful things. Among them I figured out how to capture instrumentation from my main service so I can analyze data from when we do performance testing runs. I figured out enough of New Relic's query language to build a nice dashboard. I started researching valkey integration so I can start optimizing once I have the data I need.

My additional meetings went well. The whole team seems to be working pretty smoothly. Feels good.

I am looking forward to some focus time #today though I have a couple of extra meetings to navigate.

I am eager to get into performance analysis of my new service and the first round of optimizations. Our performance testers are well ahead of me, I'd like to catch up.

Otherwise I'll continue to practice at going with the flow of whatever the day actually reveals.

I completely forgot my morning greeting. No specific reason though most of my work day was pretty busy hence finally posting so late.

I spent more time helping my team. I am trying to foster a good share understanding of our priorities. This helps me, too, making it easier for the team to self organize.

I managed to push forward on a couple of my own tasks at the same time. And navigate half a day of meetings.

Now to head to The Row for beers and to relax.

The new brewery is a new location for a known property. I used to work right near Silver Branch's original location, at the other end of the county. I think I've only been back once or twice in the past few years. I am eager to see what they've done with a space that I felt always could have used more input and attention. They are going to offer pizza soon too at this location.

I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a while. I ordered a smaller pour and stayed for a bit to catch up. We agreed to try to meet up at the recently opened brewery that took over an old spot. Said friend was one of the owners of the brewery that was the old spot.

Glad I had the energy left to get up to The Row for our CSA share. I was open to spending unexpected time with an old friend. Hoping for more time again soon.

I made my way through my 1:1's #today with more grace than last week. I am still worn down a bit but was able to work through a couple tricky topics with openness and fairness.

I pushed through some contributor work, more than I expected. Mostly configuration management around my new service and some deployments to get bug fixes I landed yesterday out where they could be tested.

I have enough energy left to look forward to the drive to get our CSA share. Helps that the sun is shining.

I struggled to get up and moving this morning. I think it was processing stress from yesterday.

I have a full day ahead. I'm thinking back to my last few Tuesdays, how I can better meet my self inflicted full day of 1:1 meetings with my team.

I feel I've been unconsciously sliding into crunch mode at the expense of recovery. I have a looming deadline but need to be in good shape afterward.

I was still feeling some unease at how frustrated I became at one point today.

Some work in my journal helped. More practice substituting curiosity for frustration.

I experienced a mix #today.

I got a little caught up in some frustration with existing, needlessly complex code. I remembered to ask for help. I was able to turn the corner, realizing my attempted fix was fine, I merely misunderstood something that my helper made clear.

More often than not I simply followed the day where it went.

This example may seem trivial or overly mundane. Where I am at in my practice, that is the point.

I can perfect my resting awareness as much as I want while sitting as much as I want. I am not helped by all of that work unless I also practice calling forth the skills and abilities I've acquired throughout the rest of my day, no matter how trivial or mundane.

Today I am using the opportunity to practice my mindfulness. I accept the unease arising from my attachment to having my preparations just so. I can let go, my week has begun anyway. I can still choose to prioritize folding my laundry and accept I will get to it when I have time without overly attaching. Accepting some flexibility won't revert all of the positive changes between that past version of myself and the current one.

I didn't finish folding all of my laundry last night. Usually this bothers me. Hard to explain but it used to never bother me. As I've changed, it became part of how I feel prepared for the week. A hallmark of that past version of me was I rarely if ever really prepared for anything. I prefer the benefits of my current mind but this is a small trade off.

I've finished my tea and a few articles on my tablet. Time to get ready and talk the pups for their morning walk.

I have a little work left to wrap up my tasks from last week but otherwise am ready to start whatever is next. A couple more bugs to squash. A polish pass through my SDK for consistency and clean up. Wiring my API's metrics up to our logging service so I can start analyzing performance test results in order to optimize before launch in a month.

Down to folding the last of the laundry then all prepared for the week.

The rest of the chores went smoothly. Had some time after to relax and recover. Last few weekends haven't felt that way, more full to the last. I prefer Sundays like #today.

Chores are well underway. Finishing lunch so we can head out for groceries soon.

Some Sundays, chores feel like a struggle. Often on those days we run late leading to re-appraising and sometimes deferring.

Other days feel smoother, like I'm ready before I need to be. Today is one of those days.

I've already finished my tea and am watching the season 5 finale of Lego Masters Australia before taking the dogs for their morning walk. Scotty and Owen's titan build is unreal.

Weekly chore day, #today. I'll start laundry after getting back with the pups. We'll head out for groceries after lunch.

I could use more fights like that but I suspect it used up their choreography budget. That, uh, toe knife? Foot knife? Haven't seen that before. #DoubleTeam #KungFuSat

Why is he freaking out about a bag over his head? He was already underwater. He couldn't breathe anyway. Would seem like more of a nuisance. #DoubleTeam #KungFuSat

I don't want to know or understand what he was doing with that ersatz rope twisted from I'm assuming bed sheets in the tub with the oddly ecstatic look on his face.

I'm not sure I want to understand any of this "training". He removed his thumbprint? For reasons?! My brain--ow!

I'm glad this guy is here to tell me the plot because this movie seems uninterested in showing it. No complaints about the action. The training montage nonsense isn't for me. Mostly because I can't take JCVD seriously. His facial expressions are those of a muppet. #DoubleTeam #KungFuSat
