If POSIX was so good, why is there no POSEVEN‽

On 9/11, I was working all morning, didn't have TV or Internet up. Went out for late lunch and nobody was outside, everything was closed. Spookiest thing ever.

The Chinese place I went to every couple days wasn't really open but let me in, and it was being reported on the big screen TV they usually had Chinese soap operas on. And we sat and ate and watched in horror.

And then war criminal George W Bush made it worse.

Slept early, woke early. This is weird.

Read news & it's a mix of catastophe, a little good news, then more catastrophe.

OH NO I'm out of poptarts & other zero-effort breakfasty things. Now drinking a Coke & some Maria cookies, the breakfast of unprepared people.

Not only did Stop Killing Games get rejected by the EU commission, FUCKING UBISOFT had a private meeting first.

This is what you pay for when you buy "AAA" games.

Got a little guy going in between different level maps now. Haven't drawn anything in the other maps, but they're linked up by scripted events.

Very small amount of UI, & very deliberately like an Atari 8-bit, graphics over little text window.

Graphics? Trivial. Asking the OS/JVM what properties it has? NIGHTMARE. java.lang.Properties is not a "real hashtable". Java does not helpfully return values where you can modify things in place.

;; Returns a vector of all system property names
(define (system-property-names)
(let ( (keys (Collections:list (System:properties:keys))) )
(Collections:sort keys)
keys
))

;; Returns value of a system property
(define (system-property k)
(System:get-property k)
)

Got a frame up & basic game world loading.

Just reusing my Kawa Scheme guiframe (but greatly enhanced) from last year's SchemeOTron, & a Kenney tileset I was playing with.

Maps won't be random, it's a static RPG. I generate them in my Chez "basicez" maze tool, then have to strip out some junk, & then I can add a few more scripty features. It's *VERY* much simpler than Mystic Dungeon on the Cyberhole.

I don't really use distributed git nonsense, I have no team. I just need a place to dump a binary & sources, & you can read those sources. I already have a source page on the Cyberhole, but it's VERY simplistic, & wouldn't scale to multiple projects as is.

Also, gitlab had one of the most annoying login processes ever. I want to log in once & keep my credentials forever on this machine.

Uuugh, now I need to find a replacement for gitlab, since they're all-in on slop, too.

WHERE YOU GONNA GET THOSE ENGINEERS, GOODLIFE SCUM‽

Halloy was a bust. Every channel you open splits a tiny little ratpoison window you can't rearrange (you can drag, but it drags the window). So open everything & maximize one at a time? What a mess. It looked nice from screenshot!

#irc

OK, I may regret asking for more suggestions, but what's a good Mac IRC client?

I'd been using LimeChat, which is minimally tolerable, but I don't like it, & it crashes more than I'd like.

It *MUST* be able to handle libera.chat's IRC3 & TLS.

Be nice if it looked good. I'm trying Halloy out now.

I'd rather not run irssi (fucking perl), but I know how, & will fall back to that if I can't find anything suitable. Just hit star to recommend irssi to me, wink's as good as a nod, eh?

L-05:30 to Artemis II, live on NASASpaceflight stream:

(update stream)

I keep the feed muted until it gets close, buncha vapid stuff right now. We'll hear from better NSF & NASA people in a bit.

Nervous as fuck about this launch, I don't trust SLS at all.
