Took a trek to my old stomping grounds in Concord, Massachusetts. There are so many large areas to explore, but the trails are often a mishmash of marked and unmarked trails, private property and historical landmarks, that getting turned around (aka “lost”) is quite easy.

But I did come across this old beaver’s den in a pond flooded by the recent rain.

A handsome "brassy blister beetle" (BBB!). Its pinchy mouthparts remind me of the tongs Saint Dunstan used to grab the Devil's nose.
