OK before I go to bed anyone wanna warn me that CVE-2026-99999 impacts Ubuntu after all

we wake up electrified out of the coma by our own souls’ airplanes roaring over the roof they’ve come to drop angelic bombs the hospital illuminates itself
imaginary walls collapse
O skinny legions run outside
O starry-spangled shock of mercy the eternal war is here
O victory forget your underwear we’re free

"CVE-2026-99999" is the fakest sounding CVE name. That is like Hideo Kojima or Kotaro Uchikoshi had just learned what a "CVE" is and decided to write a plot point about a macguffin mega-CVE that is going to cause enormous problems for the protagonists

Me: I found some furries online who said they'd come over and help fix the router.

ONCE THIS QUOTE TOOT IS 12 HOURS OLD. THE PHP UPDATE SHOULD BE RELEASED.

@mcc there's a for and for_ function in the prelude. the difference is that for_ doesn't care about the output from traversing the data structure (returns m () for a monad m) but for does (like map with side effects). probably for_ is what you want. https://idris2docs.sinyax.net/data/prelude/docs/Prelude.Interfaces.html#Prelude.Interfaces.for_

also you can do range comprehensions [ 1 .. 8 ] to get a range list: https://idris2.readthedocs.io/en/latest/tutorial/typesfuns.html#list-comprehensions

so it should be something like,

for_ [ 1 .. 8 ] $ \i => do
... something with i ...

It's been kind of hard to remember to click on the sloth.

new blog post: Response to Paolo Pedercini's stance on AI usage

I've always known that WordPress would destroy me one day.

Questions

https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:3dq7pt3ueeedfxrpnpmeycvz/post/3myducbbryc2f

1. Is there a way to just temporarily disable PHP on my server? I tried removing php from apache mods-enabled but Wordpress still is able to serve pages somehow. Not sure if that's the caching system or how it's working.

2. What is the simplest thing I can put into an Apache conf directive, like a <Directory> or <VirtualHost>, to make the site fail to load with a clear, temporary message like a 503?

I'm not feeling celebratory today. I was asked to write something about the referendum and I said no because I'm feeling terrible about the other nine questions.

I don't trust myself to publish when I'm feeling this low.

I think Ximena addresses it accurately in her post. Well worth reading.

If this were scheme or ocaml I'm pretty sure I could do what i'm doing with zip or other pointfree combinators but unfortunately Idris's most Haskell-like quality is the documentation believes that giving the type of a function is sufficient for a reader to understand what it is the arguments do

Alright. Idris question. Do you just have like… a for loop. Hiding in this language somewhere. Yes I know how to do a loop with recursion. But you've already *got* monads/"do" and sometimes it's just true that the most semantically efficient way to communicate something is "for i in 1 to 8" or whatever. You seem to have range() . I think so anyway. I've thought I found things in the stdlib before and been wrong. https://idris2docs.sinyax.net/data/papers/docs/Data.Enumerate.html#Data.Enumerate.Enumerator

You didn't document "if" so maye you didn't document "for"
