Thank you to everyone who spoke out about AI-generated contributions. You showed us how much this matters, and we should have asked you sooner.

No single person defines this project. We define it together.

And together, we're building the social web we want to see.

Pixelfed bans AI generated contributions.

We heard you! We are not accepting any AI or agentic code contributions, and will keep building Pixelfed by hand.

Thank you for your feedback!

X, Meta and TikTok loosened their rules on hate speech, racism and transphobia.

They didn't undermine the open social web. They made the case for it.

On Pixelfed and Loops, safety and mental health come first. Always.

A roadmap is coming, and you can help shape it. Reply with the safety features you want to see, and we'll turn them into clear goals.

Please share/boost so more voices are heard ❤️

Instagram suspended our account, one we've never posted from, just added a link to https://pixelfed.org in the bio.

Meet Loops — a new, federated TikTok alternative that’s open-source and self-hosted.

Every movement begins with a spark.

Loops is that spark — breaking down the walls built around creativity and replacing them with doors anyone can open, explore, and build upon.

Join us and spread the word!

Custom Filters are now available! 🥳

You can now set keyword filters to blur, warn or hide posts that match, across home + public + hashtag feeds!

These are based on the Mastodon v2 Filters API, and should be compatible with 3rd party apps.

Our official app does not properly handle blur or warn context types, but soon will.

I'm so thankful for all our Kickstarter pledgers! ❤️

We now have plenty of runway to support Pixelfed, Loops, Sup and more for a year or more.

I'm still in the process of establishing the non-profit, and will keep you updated on that, I can't wait to transfer over the assets to help strengthen our long term goals.

There are so many iconic features in Pixelfed that not many people are aware of.

- Parental Controls (manage child accounts)
- Portfolios (curate a mini website of specific posts)
- Collections (Create groups of photos)
- Stories (ephemeral photos/videos that expire after 24h)

Our team has me laser focused on the Pixelfed app and webUI, and while I want to work on Loops, I have to respect their orders and focus on the highest priority.

I love it though, especially when they challenge my ideas and convince me of a better direction.

I've been going solo for so long, I missed out on how important it is to have a team.

So grateful ❤️
