Apple has released its repair price sheet for the iPhone Duo and owners should be prepared to spend some serious cash when things break.

Need to fix the back glass? $199. What about the rear camera? $229. Did you damage the inner display? Better get your wallet ready. While we don't have our hands on the Duo just yet, the numbers make it clear this will be a difficult and expensive phone to fix. Read more at the link below.

The iPhone Duo looks to be an impressive bit of engineering, but we have doubts about its repairability.

From hard-to-replace screens to the sound of dust crunching inside the hinges, foldable phones face some unique challenges. Unfortunately it's been hard to actually fix them. We'd love to see a foldable from Apple that's truly repairable. But we're skeptical the Duo will be a step in the right direction.

iPhone 18 Pro power button replacement: logic board out, battery moved, cameras moved, other cameras moved, three sideways screws, one super fragile bracket. For a button.

Struggling to get solder to flow? Before you blame your iron, check the tip. A dirty or oxidized tip can't transfer heat properly, which is the #1 reason beginners think their iron is "broken."

The fix is quick: keep the tip clean with brass wool or a damp sponge, and keep it tinned with a thin layer of fresh solder. Do it when you start a job and again before you store the iron, and your tips will last dramatically longer.

Today, Amazon effectively kills support for older Kindles. Not because the screens stopped working. Not because the batteries all died. Because Amazon decided perfectly usable e-readers should be cut off from the services that made them useful. That is not innovation. That is forced obsolescence with a checkout button. Sign PIRG’s petition and tell Amazon to stop bricking working Kindles.

Apple has issued an emergency recall for the new Neo laptop after discovering a critical design flaw: it’s repairable.

Internal testing revealed the device contains replaceable parts and a battery that comes out without adhesive. Unacceptable for their standards.

You’ve probably met Torx, the star-shaped screw that has become common in our phones, consoles, and cars. But have you met Torx Plus? It's the high-tech upgrade nobody told you about: straighter walls, zero cam-out, and way more torque transfer. The @frameworkcomputer Laptop 12 might be the most repair-friendly laptop we’ve ever opened. Seriously. It’s shockingly easy to take apart, and for a touchscreen convertible, that’s rare. It earned a 10/10 on our repairability scale thanks to clever engineering choices:

- Screwless SSD clip.
- Cable-free battery removal.
- Clearly labeled mainboard.
- QR codes on every major part.

We tore it down. You can fix it up.

We loved working on this device 😍! What is it?
There are two very cool characteristics about this device's screws. Can you spot them?

Nintendo Switch 2? Galaxy S25 Edge?

Around here, we're most excited about the MNT Reform laptop that, after much anticipation, just arrived at our doorstep.

Among many repair-friendly features, this laptop uses standardized 18650 batteries, which makes finding replacements incredibly easy. Opening it up to swap them out is easy, too.

Shout out to @mntmn, @theawesomerandomness, @liaizon, @holo_memory, @plom, @bnys, Tina the dog, and everyone else who put together this incredible product!

Shoutout to the marketing ‘expert’ who mailed a large, battery-powered, LCD-equipped video greeting card to our CEO to demonstrate their innovative approach to ignoring the #ewaste crisis. Bold strategy.

We’ll be sure to reach out if we need help shipping steaks and leather handbags to PETA.
