You haven't really lived till you try doing TWO #YunoHost system + app upgrades at the same time 😅
VPS1 - the lightweight, non critical one - did great and is now up-to-date on everything.
VPS2 - the big, critical one - didn't do so well and botched its GoToSocial and NextCloud upgrades... so I'm restoring it via a recent backup and starting over again with system upgrades...

First of all, ✨ I was a DEI hire once ✨
Ya girl had studied PolSci, and didn't have the attention span yet for her big girl job as a policy worker in Parliament, so she applied for a junior dev role. I already knew some programming, because as students we were always protesting something, and protesters need a website (html, css, javascript, php).
Capgemini gave me a Java bootcamp. Quote: "this will look great for our diversity numbers." Despite the wording, I'm still grateful they hired me. ❤️
Without this DEI program, I wouldn't have worked in IT. Again, grateful to Capgemini ❤️
Unfortunately I now worked in corporate IT. I was the only woman in every team. A self taught junior dev. The micro aggressions that I had to deal were _insane_.
Daily:
- expected to get coffee and take notes
- ignored, side eyed or talked over
- expected to write CSS as a Java dev because "girls are good at that"
- SO MANY weird and inappropriate jokes and comments
- weird invites to a senior devs house
As I reflected on what I experienced at #FOSDEM, the idea of organizing a devroom dedicated to #diversity was born.
Together with @Gina @_elena we submitted the proposal to organise a #DEI devroom at #FOSDEM27. It got rejected. 😢💔
Every year we leave #FOSDEM inspired by the people we meet & the passion for #opensource. And every year we also find ourselves thinking about how much greater it could be if more people with different perspectives were part of those conversations.
I'm actually a bit upset about this. 🙁
@RosannaSibora , @_elena and I, and a whole coalition of open source orgs were hoping to organize a track at #FOSDEM27 about Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Belonging (DEIB) in #FOSS.
It got rejected.

Sign the petition to prevent the Dutch government from sharing queer activists' data with Trump
The Amsterdam police had seized a server which was used by the collective Autistici/Inventati. Prevent this data from falling in the US's hands!
Last August, the United States government had declared the Italian anti-fascist collective to be 'terrorist'. Autistic/Inventati provides digital services to different activist collectives, including queer rights, feminism, abortion rights and anti-militarism.
The US sent out a request for mutual legal assistance (MLA) to the Dutch government. The Dutch police seized the server which had Autistici's data and is going to send this data to the US.
Data of queer rights organisations is at risk of being handed over to the US, where a regime that is hostile to the queer community is in power. Lemkin Institute even states the US is engaging in a trans genocide.
