Camping doesn’t necessarily require a tent.

When high school students Shirase Kobuchizawa, Mari Tamaki, Hinata Miyake, and Yuzuki Shiraishi accompany Antarctic expedition leaders Gin Todo and Kanae Maekawa to the place Shirase’s mother was lost, they end up camping overnight in one of the expeditions Sno-Cats.

From laughter and games, to lanterns, blizzards, and sleeping bags, these six women brave the incredible frozen environments of #APlaceFurtherThanTheUniverse.

Hinata and Yuzuki attempt to ride a bicycle through the snow while Shirase trudges along after them and Mari stumbles to their rear. In the background are four orange Sno-Cats parked in a left to right line, an expansive blue sky with a few wispy clouds, and a bright sun hanging in the middle of the sky.
Our four girls sing in sleeping bags on top of a Sno-Cat with earmuffs and coats on as Mari plays a tune on a banjo, sunset lighting the scene a warm orange from the right side of the frame.
Three orange Sno-Cats with their large tank treds are visible on the right hand of the frame looking down the line. Everywhere else is snow, ice, and gusty, wind-blown blizzard conditions!
Safe inside, we see Hinata and Yuzuki tucked warmly in their sleeping bags in a bunk bed with the orange glow of an electric lantern lighting the scene dimly from the left.
