24th of Owltober!
Samantha the Barred Owl is burrito-wrapped so her carers can trim her beak and talons. She was an ambassador owl at a bat clinic (Save the Bats) which is fitting because today begins Bat Conservation Week (24-31 Oct). Source: https://instagram.com/p/BeioOkLBXpM/ #owlsintowels #owltober 💛🦉🦇

Samantha the Barred Owl is burrito-wrapped in pink towel. The towel is made of waffle-pattern cloth the colour of sticky plasters marketed for white people. Case in point: the hand of a white person holding the burrito bundle is camouflaged with the towel. The owl has beautiful deep shiny black eyes like obsidian marbles, and a pale bone-yellow beak. She's imprinted on humans so her expression is very trusting, and bears no grudge -- compare and contrast with other owls featured here.
