Things i can do perfectly fine with my (e)ID card and libre software:
- check tax related data
- look at the data the pension scheme thingy has on me
- login for digital services of my city (e.g. renew library card)
- declare my preferences regarding organ donation online
Things i can't do:
- register and account with the health insurance, because they want their own proprietary app "for security reasons" (aka. badly implemented 2FA)
- prove my identity to banks (because they want to use proprietary software to read my eID, instead of the official libre one)
- prove my identity to telco providers (they prefer PostIdent or some "AI" proprietary "selfie with smartphone" apps)
- prove my identity to RIPE NCC (because they insist on using some proprietary "selfie + ID photos" service instead of using eIDAS infrastructure)
Why are the places that used to be "fax or postal service" now the ones with decent digital infrastructure?
